A Special Education – Specialist Dyslexia Assessment Services

1. About the Assessor

These Terms and Conditions apply to all services provided by Andrea Green; a qualified Dyslexia Assessor holding an Assessment Practising Certificate and operating under A Special Education.

Throughout this document, “the Assessor”, “we”, “us”, or “our” refers to the practitioner named above. “Client” refers to the individual being assessed or, in the case of a child, their parent or legal guardian.

2. Services Provided

Specialist assessment services are provided for:

  • Dyslexia
  • Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)
  • Literacy and related processing difficulties
  • Access arrangements

Assessments may include cognitive testing, attainment testing, background history, and a written diagnostic report in accordance with current professional guidelines.

Assessments are conducted in line with guidance from S.A.S.C. (SpLD Assessment Standards Committee)

Booking and Payments

Booking

A booking is only confirmed when:

  • A completed booking form is received; and
  • An email confirmation is sent by the asssessor and received by the client
  • A deposit of £100 is received at least 10 days in advance of the assessment date
Fees

The full fee covers:

  • Pre-assessment review of background information
  • Face-to-face or online assessment session
  • Testing, scoring and analysis
  • A comprehensive written report provided in PDF format
  • Brief post-report clarification if requested  (via telephone or online)

Additional services (e.g., attendance at meetings, further letters, or travel beyond agreed distance) may incur additional charges.

Payment Terms
  • Full payment becomes due once the assessment service has taken place.
  • Written reports will not be released until full payment has been made.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

Client Cancellations
  • More than 7 days’ notice: deposit transferable to a new date.
  • 3–7 days’ notice: 50% of full fee payable.
  • Less than 72 hours’ notice: full fee payable.
Assessor Cancellations

If there is a need to cancel due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, the appointment will be moved to an alternate date. If an alternate date can not be agreed, a full refund will be provided.

Client Responsibilities

The Client agrees to:

  • Provide accurate and complete background information.
  • Disclose any previous relevant medical, educational, or psychological reports.
  • Ensure (for child assessments) that the child is well-rested and attends on time.
  • Inform the Assessor of any special requirements in advance.

Failure to provide accurate information may affect the validity of the assessment.

Assessment Outcomes

An assessment does not guarantee:

  • A diagnosis of dyslexia or any specific learning difficulty.
  • Eligibility for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) or examination access arrangements.
  • Acceptance of recommendations by schools, universities, or examination boards.

Final decisions regarding support arrangements are made by the relevant institution or awarding body.

Confidentiality

All information obtained during the assessment process is treated as confidential and stored securely in line with GDPR UK regulations.

Information will only be shared with third parties:

  • With written consent; or
  • Where required by law; or
  • Where there is a safeguarding concern.

Data Protection

Personal data is processed in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Personal data is collected for the purpose of conducting assessments and producing reports. Records (reports and questionaires) are securely stored and retained for a period consistent with professional guidelines (typically 6–7 years, or until age 25 for children).

Clients have the right to:

  • Request access to their data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request erasure where legally permissible

Safeguarding

Where assessments involve children or vulnerable individuals, safeguarding procedures will be followed in accordance with current UK safeguarding legislation. Concerns about safety may be reported to appropriate authorities.

Intellectual Property

Assessment reports remain the intellectual property of the Assessor. Reports are provided for the Client’s personal and educational use and must not be altered, reproduced for commercial purposes, or distributed beyond relevant educational or support professionals without written consent.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • The Assessor’s liability is limited to the total fee paid for the assessment.
  • We are not liable for decisions made by third parties based on the report.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.

Complaints Procedure

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the service:

  1. Please raise concerns in writing within 14 days.
  2. We will acknowledge within 5 working days.
  3. A full response will be provided within 20 working days.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Acceptance of Terms

By booking and paying for an assessment, the Client confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
